Finca cafetera, Tolima, Col.

Don José Agustín (84) spreads the most recent coffee harvest out in the patio of his property to be dried by the sun; when he bought this finca –about 35 years ago- he did it with the profits of that year’s crop, wich would be now the equivalent of U$160 in Colombian pesos. Today, he barely manages to pay 5 labourers U$10 each for a day of work; times are hard, but future is hopeful for he has realized that coffee plantations need to be renovated in order to obtain export-quality coffee again.
